Matt Christensen,

HMSS® Storytelling Instructor

Matt Christensen is a Cleveland-based writer and educator with more than 20 years of experience in journalism, creative writing, and publishing. His work has appeared in outlets such as the Associated Press, ESPN, Men’s JournalFatherly, and Cosmopolitan, and he has collaborated with brands including Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Aquafina, Tostitos, and Starbucks. Matt spent nearly a decade at WWE, where he launched WWE Kids Magazine as editor-in-chief and served as senior editor of WWE Magazine. He is also the author of the children’s book Bunny & Doggo: Friends Fight Depression.


Matthew Sprosty,

HMSS® Scriptwriting Instructor

Matt Sprosty is a writer, filmmaker, and educator with more than 30 years of experience in storytelling across film, theatre, and literature. He has written over 35 screenplays, several novels, and more than 25 produced stage plays. Matt teaches pre-college film studies at the Cleveland Institute of Art and has spent 17 years mentoring K–8 students through Project Link’s before- and after-school program. He also hosts film podcasts, including A Take on the Academy and Second Chance Cinema, where he explores film history and overlooked movies.


Vera Howard

HMSS® Classroom Instructor

Vera Howard discovered the love of filmmaking as a student in the Digital Video Production class at Cleveland Heights High School. Since then, Vera has created 10 films and founded Arev Studios, LLC. Vera currently is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) at Cleveland State University, where she continues to develop her skills in film production. Known for creating innovative projects using green screen technology and directing music videos, she is passionate about storytelling—but it is her role as a director that she cherishes the most.


Antonio Harper,

HMSS® Filmmaker I

Antonio Harper is a Cleveland Heights native and Cleveland State University alum, as well as a longtime friend and supporter of Heights Middle School Shorts. He is the owner of West 10G Productions and an award-winning director, producer, and editor. After relocating to Los Angeles, Antonio collaborated with film industry professionals while creating independent films that have received recognition and awards at film festivals.


Amara Jester,

HMSS® Filmmaker II

Amara Jester returns for her second year with us! A dedicated camera operator and director of photography based in Cleveland, Amara is known for her strong work ethic and ability to build trust with directors, assistant directors, producers, and crew alike. As one of the few Black female camera operators and DPs in the city, she is committed to making her mark in the film industry. With a passion for editing, lighting, and camera movement, Amara thrives in the long days and focused energy of production—driven by a deep love for cinema.
