Building Heights is dedicated to helping middle school students in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights School district explore and refine their creativity through performance and film arts.

We started and managed, in partnership with Ensemble Theatre, the Heights Performing Arts Camp from 2017-2020, a free summer theater arts program where nearly 65 campers learned to perform, act, and direct plays.
In 2020, we decided to go all in on the film arts and founded Heights Middle School Shorts, a three-week, mixed-media camp where middle school students learn to express themselves creatively through the medium of film.
Guided by local professionals experienced in filmmaking, writing, acting, music, and facilitating youth creative expression, campers learn storytelling through the medium of film as they write short stories that they turn into short films containing short musical scores. Each camper will be part of a production team that writes and produces a film.
Heights Middle School Shorts is open up to 30 CHUH Middle School students each summer, who are guided by local professionals experienced in filmmaking, writing, acting, music, and facilitating youth creative expression.
We are committed to making the camp free of charge to a majority of participants to maximize the number and diversity of students we help explore their creative potential, and welcome and encourage monetary and in-kind donations. Please consider making a gift.
